Organization - How We Function
Surgeons of Hope is a 501 (c) 3 humanitarian foundation whose purpose is to bring life-saving surgery to children who would otherwise not have access to this kind of sophisticated treatment. We provide operations, training, professional development, equipment and supplies, and where necessary, we build a sustainable pediatric surgery center to provide opportunity for continuation of our program into the future.
Our 13-member Board of Directors includes the officers of the organization: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary, as well as ten Directors. Officers and directors are considered for re-election at the Surgeons of Hope Annual Board Meeting in May of each year. Surgeons of Hope is staffed by a full-time Director of Operations and Development, Director of Missions and a full-time Executive Assistant, as well as seasonal interns.
We are proud of the diversity within our Board, representing a wide range of experience in the world- wide medical community and beyond.
In addition to our Officers and Board, we have Committees of health professionals who have served as team members for past missions and whose experience and advice remains invaluable to our organization.
